What to expect...
Sessions can be on the telephone, video call, or face-to-face in my consulting room based in London. Talking in the traditional setting doesn’t always suit everyone and some prefer to do this outdoors.
Outdoor talking therapy is an evidence-based approach and is typically used to combine the conventional outcomes of indoor therapy with the known benefits of connecting with the natural world.
Depending on the individual I often also like to work creatively and allow people to express themselves in other mediums such as art and music. By working in this way the creative imagination can find its way out of the most perplexing and complex problems and conflicts.
Initial Assessments and Formulations
Typically, your first session with a Clinical Psychologist will start with an initial assessment session to find out more about the difficulties you would like support with and develop a shared understanding of these – this is called a psychological formulation. This is then used to agree areas to work on and therapeutic approaches which may be helpful.
